Emily Wallace's Ancestors
First Generation

Second Generation
William Wallace (1757, NY - 1837, NY)
married Elizabeth "Betsey" Dill (1760, NY - ?, NY)
William Wallace was born in Ulster County/Orange County area of New York. I do not have record of his parents. He is likely of Scottish descent. He is believed to have served in the Revolutionary War, as he applied for a pension from the government for his service.
William's wife, Elizabeth “Betsey” Dill, was born about 1760 in the same area of New York. Although her parents are not known, she was probably the granddaughter of immigrant Caleb Dill.
“According to family tradition the Dills were originally Norseman, coming from Norway to Germany to escape oppressions, thence emigrating to the north of Ireland about the time of the siege of Derry. They were valiant adherents of the cause of William of Orange, in the religious wars of that period, and held high rank in the army, the name being changed from Diehl to Dill.” (J. H. Beers. Commemorative Biographical Record of Ulster County, New York, 1896, p. 240.)
Third Generation
John Wallace (1791, NY - 1879, NY)
married Elsie Young (1800, NY -1868, NY)
John Wallace was the third of William and Betsey's nine children.
John's first wife was Esther Young. After her death, he married her sister Elsie Young. (Click on Elsie Young's name for information about her ancestors.)
Elsie already had one son named Darius Osmin. John and Elsie had nine children in addition to Darius, one of which was our ancestor Charles.
There is a John Wallace who fought in the Civil War, but it was probably wasn't this John, but rather his son, John Wallace, Jr.
Fourth Generation
Charles F. Wallace (1823, NY - 1896, OR)
married Abigail C. Mallory (1825, NY - 1907, OR)
Fifth Generation
Emily J. Wallace (1853, NY - 1886, OR)
married David A. Herren (1849,OR - 1911,OR )
