Williams Rookings I (c. 1593 ENG - 1647 VA)
married Jane Baxter (1602-1674 VA)
The first Rookings to come to America was William Rookings I. As descendants of William Rookings, our family qualifies “to become members of the First Families of Virginia and The Jamestown Society.”[1]

“William Rookings, who was baptised on January 18th, 1599 in St. Helens Parish, Bishopsgate, came to Colonial Virginia in 1619 on the ship Bona Nova. After the 1622 Indian attack on English settlements in Virginia, William was listed on the Jamestowne Muster of 1623/4 living in the Bucke Row area of Elizabeth Cittie. In 1636, William patented 150 acres near Upper Chippokes Creek in what is now Surry County, Virginia called Flying Point.
Some time after 1625, William married Jane Baxter. William and Jane had at least one son, also named William, and a daughter named Elizabeth. William Rookings I died between the years of 1641 and 1647.”[2]
